NEELAM AHOOJA

Toronto-based fashionista and mother of two rose to internet fame when embarking on an unexpected career change. Neelam Ahooja initially was an accountant, but after a viral photo shoot via Instagram, she gained a massive following.

Now, she acts as a stylist to her audience, and they all embrace her niche presence and personality. Her closet employs minimalistic, elegant pieces with clean silhouettes and free-flowing fabrics from her favorite, The Row, as well as Rick Owens, Comme des Garçons and more.

You’re known for being a super-fan of “The Row.” What was your favorite collection from them and what did you love most about it?

Their most recent one - Spring 2023 is perfection. It’s very feminine but with a touch of boyish charm; there are kitten heels, hints of tulle, flowy dresses, preppy loafers, and masculine vests.

I’m loving the changing silhouette - from oversized to lean and pieces you can wear over and over without risk of being passé.

What does the word "Muse" mean to you?

When I hear the word Muse I think personification. Inspiration. Representation. Someone who quintessentially captures or embodies the elements of a specific vision.

“The Row” is also known for being clean and minimalist, which is also reminiscent of your personal style. How do you jump outside that comfort zone while still staying true to your aesthetic?

I like to embrace unique accessories. I have an affinity for Dries Van Noten and Faleiro Sarti scarves and have been collecting them for years. They’re ornate, colourful, often embellished or embroidered, and most importantly - easy to layer and add to an outfit for effortless flair.
