Whether you've seen her in top films like To Catch a Thief, Rear Window, or High Society, Grace Kelly has always captivated her audiences through the cinema screen. Her incredible acting skills have earned her lead spots in films throughout the mid 20th century, but her iconic garbs worn on and off screen inspired women across the world for decades.
Grace Kelly started her acting career in the 1940s and gained popularity through her poised look and true femininity. She embodied so many different types of characters and created her own true identity along the way. Through this, she was able to explore the world of fashion and explore different types of styles - anything from tomboy chic to Hollywood glamor, Grace Kelly made these styles her own. During the peak of her career as an actress, she fell in love with the Prince of Monaco, Prince Rainier III. This relationship would forever change her life. In 1956, Prince Rainier of Monaco proposed to Grace, making her the new Princess of Monaco. This relationship caused even more of an attraction towards her and started to gain her attention from luxury designer brands all over the world looking to dress her for the world to see.
One of Grace’s most worn brands throughout the peak of her career and her marriage was Hermes. She had a notable love for the Sac à dépêches bag, which is the former name for what is now famously known as the Kelly bag. This iconic bag was renamed after the Princess because of how she was able to display it and boost the reputation of Hermes grow and evolve into something new. Women across the world wanted the Kelly bag more than the Sac à dépêches bag because they wanted to embody the lifestyle of the Princess. The Kelly bag was now the ultimate symbol of status and class.
So… what would Grace Kelly put in her cart on the Dora Maar website? We picked a classic night out outfit that we think she would love and that captures all of her best qualities. To us at Dora Maar, Grace Kelly is elegant, feminine, and sophisticated. If she were to be invited to a dinner party, we think she would choose this Esme Vie Camellia Dress in white. The silk fabric and shape of the body would allow Grace to feel classy and chic. We also think she would pair it with this pair of Francesco Russo heels in black, adding to her already existing elegance. And lastly, we think she would choose this Bottega Veneta Interaccito clutch in black and this Hermes enamel bangle to finish off the look. All of these pieces put together would create the perfect look for a night out.
