What does the word "Muse" mean to you?
The first thing I think of is Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu. She played one of the 9 Muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. I was obsessed with Olivia in the late 70s and early 80s; I remember her character inspiring others to take risks for their passions, and I carried it with me into my future.
How does your artistic eye influence your dressing?
I love pattern on pattern on pattern. I also love a sexy pair of jeans with an amazing Ulla Johnson blouse that gives the outfit that extra POW! paired with some heels or boots. Fashion inspires my designs too- sometimes I'll buy an outfit and then plan the interior design around that look!
Is there a recent designer collection that has blown you away?
When I was in Italy this summer, I visited the Valentino store. I loved hearing the salesperson's expertise and advice- I even cried when they told me about this haute couture cape (1 of 3 in the world). Also, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Haute Couture AW22 show on the Spanish Steps- drool. The crazy technicolor garments on different shapes and different ages... and then the fabric flowers- give them all to me!
